Faith in God’s Promises

One morning as I was starting my day, I began meditating on a phrase I recently heard, “Doubt attracts attack.” The Holy Spirit began using that phrase to teach me that the trajectory of my life will boil down to whether or not I believe God’s promises found in His Word.

God’s Word tells us that all who believe in Jesus and confess Him as Lord will be saved from judgment, condemnation, and be given the gift of eternal life in Heaven. By placing our faith in Jesus and His Word and confessing it over our life, we have accessed the eternal life God already provided for us through the cross of Jesus. Even though we can’t physically see the proof of this, the moment we place our faith in Jesus and what the Bible says, we have the promise of eternal life.

Since we understand the concept of receiving salvation by faith, why does there seem to be reluctancy to apply that SAME principle (Believe, Confess, Walk it out by Faith, not by sight nor experience) to other areas of our lives?

Let me think of some examples that may help us understand…

The Word says in Ephesians 1 that we are holy, faultless, and that it gave God great pleasure to adopt us into His family. God doesn’t accept us reluctantly but joyously! Then guess what, I must not doubt that, but choose to believe it, confess it, and walk by faith, believing that I am blessed, celebrated, and highly favored!

The Word also says in 1 Peter 2:24, Psalm 103, Matthew 8, and Isaiah 53 that our physical healing was paid for by Jesus with the 39 stripes he took before He hung on a cross. My faith can access this healing in the same way my faith accessed salvation.

Do I always “act” saved? No, not always, but my faith is in Jesus - His righteousness - not my works nor my behavior. Reminding myself that I am holy only because He is holy literally makes me walk out a holy lifestyle.

It is the same with walking in healing - do I always “feel” healed? No, there are times my body will try to tell me the opposite of what God’s Word says. My body will tell me, “You should be tired today.” But I fight the “Good fight of faith” that the Apostle Paul encouraged his spiritual son, Timothy to walk in.

We learn to respond with a Word that is GREATER THAN what our flesh says: “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” “I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”

Your body can tell you all sorts of things - Your head hurts. Your back hurts. Your joints hurt. Your checkbook can even talk to you! You’re poor. You’ll never get out of debt. But there is a WORD that will triumph over every other word and it’s God’s Word. God has already provided for every aspect of our lives! Spiritually, Physically, and yes, financially. He didn’t leave anything unredeemed!

Got a problem? - Find a Promise!

Because I am staking my eternal life on God’s Word being True, I also must believe that His promise about my health, my finances, my relationships, and my future MUST also be true - and then, day by day, I walk out my faith and not what I’m currently experiencing.

Faith is the ability to believe something BEFORE you can see any evidence of what you’re believing for (Hebrews 11:1), however, most believers live with the motto: “I have to see it before I believe it.” God says that this type of faith is actually not faith at all! Faith believes in what it CANNOT see. -selah-

Faith believes you're saved from hell before you ever see heaven.

Faith believes you're healed when you still feel pain.

Faith believes you are blessed and highly favored while you’re still living week-to-week on your paycheck.

Faith opens doors.

Faith heals.

Faith provides.

Faith produces abundance.

Faith sees the invisible.

Faith calls things that are not as though they are.

Let me encourage you by telling you what I tell myself OFTEN: “Don’t doubt what God’s Word says.” And honestly, I don’t think it’s any believer's intention to not believe God’s Word. We probably either fall into one or the other categories: we have been taught wrong, or we haven’t been taught. The Good News: Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God! The remedy to weak faith is to simply find out what the Word of God says. Then, with childlike faith, believe it and continue to believe it until your faith is MADE sight!

Here’s my warning on Unbelief: Holy Spirit revealed to me that unbelief is a subtle form of fear. Trust me, I’ve walked in it. It’s not fun nor beneficial! And while God’s currency is Faith, the enemy’s currency is fear. Don’t go there ??‍♀️! Don’t give him a way in to your thoughts or your life through the doorway of doubt and fear. Take those thoughts captive and make them obedient to Jesus’s way of thinking. “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

?Prayer: “God I am empowered by Your Spirit to overcome all doubt, unbelief, fear, and worry. I choose to trust You and to place my hope in the authority and validity of Your Word. I will not fear anything: no man, no opinion, no sickness, no disease, no lack, no doctors report, no media report, NOTHING that contradicts Your Word! I refuse to doubt. I place my trust, my life, my faith, in You only.”

⬇️VERSES TO BUILD YOUR FAITH IN GOD AND HIS WORD

“But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, ‘Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.’” Mark 5:36

“But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.” James 1:6

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life..” Matthew 6:25

“and do not give the devil an opportunity to work.” Ephesians 4:27

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“Do not be anxious for anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
